On Wednesday February 20, 2019 at the Annual Church Business Meeting, the Church voted to present Assistant Pastor Jacqueline A. Thompson as the first candidate considered for the position of Senior Pastor. Search Committee activity will be suspended while the Church completes this process. The church leadership has affirmed that the motion and the subsequent vote to consider Assistant Pastor Thompson is appropriate and represents the will of the Church and is now moving forward with the Candidate Engagement Process to present Assistant Pastor Thompson to the Church as the first candidate for Senior Pastor.

Candidate Weekend, Preaching Dates, and Church Vote for Pastoral Selection
The Assistant Pastor will participate in a series of Candidate Engagement Weekend activities. The Candidate Engagement Weekend is a time for the candidate and congregation to come together and hear the candidate’s vision and the congregation’s desires, as we discern God’s plan for Allen Temple. The Candidate Engagement Team is happy to announce the following dates and times for Assistant Pastor Thompson to share her pastoral vision with the ATBC congregation, ministries, and church leadership:

  • Wednesday, April 3: Ministry and Congregational Sessions
  • Thursday, April 4: Thursday Night Bible Study with Sunday School and Christian Education Emphasis
  • Saturday, April 6: Congregational Town Hall, Ministry, & Leadership Session
  • Sunday, April 7 - 8:00am Worship: Pastoral Candidate Preaching
  • Sunday, April 7 - 11:15am Worship: Pastoral Candidate Preaching
  • Sunday, April 7 - 1:30pm (after 11:15 service completed): Congregational Meeting with the Call to Vote, and Congregational Vote for Assistant Pastor Thompson as Senior Pastor

Church Membership Update and Confirmation
It is simply good practice for all members to ensure that their membership information is up to date and accurate. To ensure that all members may participate in the Senior Pastor voting process, we are asking each member to confirm membership by doing the following:
  • Completing the membership update cards provided by the ushers at each service, or
  • Going online to update your membership via the ATBC Community online portal
  • Go to Allen-Temple.org
    • Select ATBC Community (top blue bar)
    • Log in via the e-mail address associated with your Church membership record
    • Select the circle at the top right with your initials
    • Select edit at the top
    • Verify and correct your information
    • Click save (bottom)
    • If you experience difficulties accessing your profile online, please complete a member update card

We are asking all members to complete their membership update on or before Wednesday, April 3, 2019
