Ponder these thoughts from Pastor Emeritus Smith, written in his book “Falling in Love with
God”.

“Prayer is like the morning bath that refreshes us after an evening of sleep. For this week (February 26 through March 4), we beseech you to engage in prayer and
meditation on the prayer themes and scripture references listed below. If possible, let's pray
together during the 7am morning hour, 7pm evening hour or 12:00 noon time-frame.

Prayer Themes and Scriptures

• Experience the Lord’s Presence
  • Psalm 46:10-11 (KJV): Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the
    heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is
    our refuge. Selah.
• Examining one’s self
  • 1 John 1:8-9 (KJV): If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and tocleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV): Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test
    yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the
    test?
• Prayer for a Clean Heart
  • Psalm 51:10 (KJV): Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
  • 1 Timothy 1:15 (NRSV): But the aim of such instruction is love that comes from a pure
    heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith.
• Prayer for Forgiveness
  • Colossians 3:13 (CEB): Be tolerant with each other and, if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other.
• Help my unbelief
  • Mark 9:23-24 (NKJV): Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
• Obedience
  • 2 John 1:6 (GNT): This love I speak of means that we must live in obedience to God's commands. The command, as you have all heard from the beginning, is that you must all live in love.

  • Genesis 22:1-14 (KJV): And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
