Dr. Jacqueline A. Thompson and the Allen Temple Baptist Church are pleased to share with you COVID in Black: Telling Our Stories!

 

This project captures the stories of African Americans and the impact of COVID-19 on their daily lives. Participants share their stories of tragedy and triumph as they navigate the massive changes around them brought on by a global pandemic. They also explore how their fears and faith informed their decisions regarding testing and vaccination.

COVID-19 had a disproportionate impact on African American and poor communities nationwide. In many of these communities, the Black Church provided access to lifesaving and life sustaining resources. COVID in Black chronicles the response of Allen Temple Baptist Church in the highest impacted California San Francisco East Bay community of East Oakland. It is our hope that everyone, especially faith-based, community, and health organizations will view and share the documentary series to educate and raise awareness around COVID-19’s continued impact.
