Meditations on Healthy Living

Psalms 125:1 Those who trust in THE LORD are as steady as Mount Zion, unmoved by any circumstance. [Living Bible translation]

Summary
There are a number of scriptures about CHRIST, the rock, that analogize the steadfastness, the reliability, and faithfulness of GOD to a rock, or which use the rock as a teaching tool for our spiritual development. Psalms 125:1 is one of those scriptures. Some other scriptures that come to mind include:

Psalms 118:22 – The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. [New American Standard Bible translation]
See also Matthew 21:42; Luke 20:17; 1 Peter 2:7; Acts 4:11; 1 Peter 2:8; Matthew 21:44

Isaiah 28:16 – But the LORD GOD says, See, I am placing a Foundation Stone in Zion—a firm, tested, precious Cornerstone that is safe to build on.
[Living Bible translation]

1 Peter 2:4-7 – Come to HIM, to that living stone, rejected by men but in GOD’s sight chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to GOD through JESUS CHRIST. For it stands in scripture:

“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious,
And he who believes in HIM will not be put to shame.” [See Isaiah 28:16]
To you, therefore, who believes, he is precious, but for those who do not believe,
“The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner,” [See Psalms 118:22] and
“A stone that makes men stumble, a rock that will make them fall”
[See Isaiah 8:14]

Matthew 16:15-16,18 - Then HE asked them, “Who do you think I am?” Simon Peter answered, “THE CHRIST, THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD….You are Peter, a stone: and upon this rock, I will build my church, and all of the powers of hell shall not prevail against it. [Living Bible translation.]

In all of these verses GOD is tell us that if we have faith in JESUS, we will be “ROCK steady!”
Now that is something to really dance about 1.

Core Training
One of the secrets of greater balance, greater strength, and improved posture is “core training.” Core training refers to those “inner” muscles that gird your trunk and your pelvis:

Think of these muscles as making up the body’s “girdle” or “corset.” These are the muscles that help you pull in your stomach, help you stand up straight, and strengthen your back. They make you more stable inside so you can be more stable outside.

People often try to achieve “a solid core” by doing “Rock Solid Ab Workouts.” Sometimes those workouts include the following:

Bicycle Crunch

        • Sit on a floor or a mat with your feet tucked in front of you. Place your hand behind your head.
        • Slowly raise your legs while keeping them bent, where your knees face the ceiling.
        • Slowly raise your torso (your truck) to about a 35-degree angle from the floor [Be careful not to jerk up your head or strain your neck. Lead with your torso]
        • Memic the pedaling motion of a bicycle, stretching your legs out as far as you can stretch them, as you try to touch your left knee with your right elbow.
        • Then switch and try to touch your right knee with your left elbow. This will count as one rep. [Again, try to go slowly, so you don’t whiplash your head or jerk your body- reduce the angle or just point your elbow in the direction of your knee if you can’t touch it.]

Be solid, like THE ROCK
Today, focus on your “inner being” instead of your “outer being.” Imagine having a strong core!

Determine what you need to strengthen your spiritual and physical core. Put yourself on a scripture and prayer schedule. Decide how much time you will spend studying scripture or in prayer each week. Create a schedule. Do the same with your physical core. Start today by doing 3-5 core exercises or consult your physician for the core exercises appropriate for you. See how GOD transforms your “inner being.” Trust in GOD!

Pray for greater spiritual and physical INNER strength! Pray one for another.

Put your faith in GOD, a solid foundation!

Be strong! Be Steadfast! Be “solid as THE ROCK” And, BE BLESSED!
