Greenlining Coalition Meeting with Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke & Federal Regulatory Leaders
The Greenlining Coalition arrived in our nation's capital on the evening of November 6 (the night our president was re-elected to a second term) and for the next three days the coalition met with the major financial regulatory leaders, including:
- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Governors Jeremy Stein & Sarah Bloom- Raskin, and Federal Reserve Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI) Director Sheila Clark
- Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) Comptroller Thomas Curry and OCC OMWI Director Joyce Coyfield
- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Acting Chair Martin Gruenberg
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray and CFPB OMWI Director Stuart Ishimaru
- Security and Excange Commission(SEC) Commissioner Luis Aguilar and SEC OMWI Director Pamela Gibbs
- Federal Housing Finance Agency(FHFA) Acting Director Edward DeMarco
- Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary Tim Bowler
- Deputy Chief Home Ownership Preservation Officer Mark McCardle.
Greenlining's message was very straight forward, as articulated by Executive Director Orson Aguilar: "The future of America's prosperity lies in the economic vitality of communities of color... Until communities of color are able to achieve the American Dream of financial stability and growth, we will not see type of economic strength and vitality that we seek to achieve in America."
