The Betty D. Gadling Fine Arts Academy, named after Betty D. Gadling, Allen Temple Minister of Music Emerita, was developed to address the scarcity of music instruction available in the public schools.
After School Music Program
Designed for children and youth, classes are held weekdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturdays, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Classes are approximately 60 minutes per session and are offered on a minimum fee basis. Lessons on technique, sight reading, and theory are taught. Students are required to participate in two recitals during the year. Classes are available for the following musical instruments: Reeds, Brass, Guitar, Percussions, Strings, Piano. The fee is $40 month for four 30-minute music and/or voice lessons for children and a fee of $80 per month for four 45-60 minute lessons for adults.
Summer Music Week
This one-week program is for children between the ages of 5 and 11 and is held in the month of June from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch is provided daily and the curriculum includes basic music theory, introduction to playing instruments, dance, games and other fun activities. Complete the 2020 Registration Form here. Summer Music Camp
This is a 3 week program beginning the first week in July each year. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and students must achieve an average GPA of 2.5. The fee is $250.
All instruments are taught and the following classes and activities are offered:
• Instrumental Master Classes
• Theory and Harmony
• Ensemble Playing
• The Business of Music
• Composition (using Sibelius computer program)
• Field Trips
• Recital Performance
Scholarships are available for all programs.
